Welcome, yet again, to another one of my cocktail vlogs. So I’m quite pleased with myself. The fact that I’m regularly uploading, it feels good. And thank you for all contributing, commenting, liking, subscribing, all of those things. It’s awesome and it keeps me encouraged, especially commenting and giving me feedback on what I’ve done right or what I’ve done wrong.Today, I’m gonna feature another cocktail by the weekend mixologist, I mentioned in my last video, which I’ll link to right here. I stumbled across his Instagram feed and found a couple of really nice cocktails that looked awesome. His photos are fantastic so make sure you check him out as well. I’ll link to his account in the description below. So this particular one is the La Familia. I did try and find a little bit of detail about it and to see if it was a cocktail that already existed. And it turns out that Bacardi Legacy, the cocktail competition, for those who are familiar with that, a lot of people called their cocktail La Familia. So there’s a lot of conflicting recipes, and this particular one, guaranteed, it’s not part of that Bacardi Legacy competition because it features tequila and Mezcal rather than Bacardi rum. But anyways, this looks really nice, good flavors that are gonna work together. And first of all, I’m gonna start with a tequila. So a blanco tequila, one ounce, 30 mils. It’s a shaken cocktail, served in a highball, strained over pebble ice. And Mezcal, add some smokiness to the drink, half an ounce, 15 mils. And then I’ve got fresh grapefruit juice. This is a ruby red grapefruit juice, 1 ounce, 30 mils. It’s got that smokiness and then the bitter flavors from the grapefruit juice. And followed by fresh lime, half an ounce, 15 mils. And then I’ve actually combined my last two ingredients. In his particular recipe, it does say a cinnamon syrup and a honey syrup. I’ve combined the two. I’ve made a one-to-one honey syrup and then steeped cinnamon inside it as well. So in total, three quarters, 22.5 mils of that syrup. Got beautiful, light, cinnamon and honey aromatics on this. It smells delicious. And then fill the Boston glass with ice and give it a quick shake. So this is not technically pebble ice. It’s crushed ice so it’s gonna be a little bit finer. Pebble ice is something that you would get from an ice machine and it’s usually four of five mils in diameter. It’s gonna add more dilution to your drink. That’s part of the reason I only gave it a really quick shake as well is because once you strain in here, you’re gonna get extra dilution. So strain over the top. I’ve said it before, make sure you don’t fill the glass completely with that ice when you’re using crushed ice because otherwise you might have a flow up. You can always get to the end and you can top it up, add a little bit of a mound to it. And for garnish, I’m pegging a lime wheel and a cinnamon stick. There you have the La Familia. Cheers.
