Easy mai tai Cocktail Recipe Video

Video Transcript

Hi, guys, and thanks for joining me. Today I’m going to be making a Mai Tai and, in particular, it’s going to be a Trader Vic’s recipe, which is my recipe of choice. And, also, to announce the winner of “The PDT Cocktail Book”. I selected a random Lee Clarke, so congratulations, Lee. Thank you for following. Thank you for subscribing. And I’ll send you an email to get your details, and I’ll send this your way.So on to the Mai Tai. Start with a cocktail shaker. There’s a ton of different Mai Tai recipes out there. A lot of calling for pineapple juice, orange juice, but this one is my personal favorite. It’s really heavy on the rum. It’s quite a strong cocktail. But I’m going to start with a Jamaican rum, so Coruba, so 30 mills. And next, I’ll be using El Dorada… I’m sorry, El Dorado Demerara rum. The original recipe does call for an amber Martinique rum, but this is one of my favorite rums here so…different rums to your liking. But the base recipe is 16 mills of rum, one amber rum and one Jamaican dark rum. Next up, I’ll use a triple sec, so a Cointreau15 mills. Add that to the shaker. And then fresh lime juice, 22.5 mills. So three quarters of shot added to the shaker. For the next ingredient, orgeat, so 7.5 mills, so 1.5 barspoons. And 10 mills for the sugar, so 2 barspoons. For your cocktail, shake with ice and give it a good shake. For your double old-fashioned glass with crushed ice. And then strain.Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint. And there you have a Trader Vic Mai Tai. Cheers.
