Step 1 – Add ice into a glass

Step 2 – Add 1 oz or 30 ml of Gin

Step 3 – Add 1 oz or 30 ml of Campari

Step 4 – Add 1 oz or 30 ml of Sweet Vermouth

Step 5 – Stir it

Step 6 – Strain into a glass

Step 7 – Garnish with an Orange Peel

Hi. I’m Greg. And this is How To Drink. I’ve never worked in a bar, held a position as a barback, been a bar apprentice, been… I’ve been in bars. I’ve been in a lot of bars. This is How To Drink, a show about making cocktails and drinking them. Let’s get going.

Today, we’re going to make a Negroni. And I’m not going to deviate too much here. We’re gonna make a real standard Negroni. Negroni is a very simple drink to make. It’s equal parts gin, vermouth, and Campari. So gin, I’m using a Fords Gin. I really like Fords Gin. I think it pairs pretty well with everybody here. We’re gonna put in one ounce of Campari. Now, I always think of Campari as a very divisive spirit. Not everybody loves it. I like it. My wife hates it. I’m gonna use the Antica. I love this. It has a vanilla note that really pairs well with the Campari. So there it goes in the glass. We’re gonna give that a good stir. I like to garnish this with a blood orange peel. And this is Negroni. Bottoms up.

That is a good drink. Such a journey. It is a very long evolution, goes places. You definitely get the vanilla from the Antica, and in your nose, the orange peel is actually quite present. I like this drink very much. It’s sweet. It is sweet but it’s bittersweet and I think you’re going to like it. I hope you’re making one if you’re playing the home game. And to you, I say cheers.
