Hi. I’m Greg and this is “How to Drink.” I’ve never worked in a bar, held a position as a bar-back, been a bar apprentice, been… I’ve been in bars. I’ve been in a lot of bars. This is “How to Drink.” We’re about making cocktails and drinking them. Let’s get going.Today, we’re gonna make a Sidecar. This is a drink that comes from the Prohibition period. It is in the sour family of drinks. It’s very tasty. This drink is usually served with a rimmed glass. I have a dish here with some sugar on it. Rimming a glass, pretty simple process. You just take your lemon. You wanna coat the outside of the glass, not the inside, and then just kinda dance it into that sugar, and probably being a little bit more careful than you really have to be. But, you know, it’s the little things,I’m gonna take our shaker. We’re going to put our ice into our shaker. I’m just gonna drop in two big cubes. We need a cognac or brandy. I like Pierre Ferrand for most of my cocktails when I need a brandy or a cognac, and I’m gonna use an ounce and a half. We’re gonna need three-quarters of an ounce of orange Curaçao. Curaçao. I actually like the Royal Combier. And we need lemon juice, three-quarters of an ounce of lemon juice. We’re gonna shake this drink. Here we go.Right to the rim. Looking good. And that’s our Sidecar. I’m gonna enjoy this right now, if you don’t mind. Very sweet drink, with no question. I actually think that the sugar brings out the great flavor inherent in the cognac, but that’s me and my palate. Ooh, that’s a good drink. Like, you know, they are dangerous. You could really drink these all night. I don’t look very sophisticated when I do this. I slope it off the top and I lick the sugar. I look like an oaf. I look much better with a simpler drink. But that’s a Sidecar. This is “How to Drink.”I hope you’ve enjoyed the show. And if you have, I’d love it if you would subscribe. Thanks for watching. See you guys next week.
